We traveled to Florida (in the heat of the summer) to attend El Clasico! This might mean something to soccer fans, but I had no clue. Luckily, I live in a house where two fellas quickly educated me!
El Clasico is a Spanish Super Cup between fierce rivals: Real Madrid and Barcelona. Believe it or not, when these two clubs play it is considered one of the biggest games in the world.
I was shocked to find out El Clasico was celebrated with special events all week in the Miami area. We chose to attend the team practices, tailgate parties, and game.
Watching these talented athletes practice is pretty cool. It’s a nice, relaxed atmosphere where fans can sort of interact with the players. Players wave to the crowd, sign autographs, and goof off a bit on the pitch. It’s also pretty cool to see the drills the trainers put them through.
Ethan was having a blast, and practice hadn’t even started yet!
Barcelona practiced first. The crowd went wild! Yes, even for practice! Such a fun atmosphere!
Ethan’s absolute favorite player, Lionel Messi!
We were even able to see Neymar Jr. practice before his final game in a Barcelona jersey.
Barca finished up and it was time for Paris Saint-Germain to practice. We stayed for a bit and then headed out. It was hot, humid and torrential rains were beginning to settle in.
The next day was filled with El Clasico hype. Game day!
We hit the Fan Zone!
The parking lot of Hard Rock Stadium was full of tailgaters and the overall vibe was full of excitement. We checked out the International Champions Cup Fan Fest festivities and then headed to the Prime Sports tailgate event for some pre-game fun.
It was a great game! The atmosphere was awesome and the game was played with high intensity. These guys are so athletic and so fun to watch. Their ball touches are quick, skilled and intentional. Wow!
Right off the bat Messi scored to put Barcelona up 1-0. The crowd went wild!
The game was played with high intensity, really aggressive, and the crowd was loud!
In the 36th minute the game equalized 2-2 and stayed tied until shortly after the half.
Gareth Bale has such an impressive work ethic on the field. Fun to watch.
Pique scored for Barca in the 50th minute to take and keep the lead.
Barcelona wins! 3-2.
Marc Anthony performed at halftime and had the crowd up on their feet dancing and singing!
It was a great game with an energized atmosphere. What an experience!
The next day we enjoyed a couple of hours of R&R and headed out of FL! Good-bye humidity!
